Indie Insider - Ey Wade

Have you tried Amazon’s KDP Select program yet? Why or why not?

No, I haven’t tried KDP. After reading an article on the Writer Beware Site, it caused me to really read through the KDP Select contract. After seeing Amazon would have the power to stop my ability to ever self-publish again, or make a profit I decided not to get involved.

What is your greatest challenge as an author?

My greatest challenge is the marketing. Trying to get the books in front of an audience has been a bit of a trial and error, hit or miss kind of thing. Just haven’t been able to find the right door, yet..

Do you think that people judge a book by it’s cover? Who makes yours?

Yes, I’m sure they do. The bad thing is, sometimes the covers can be misleading. I design my own book covers. I get a particular thought in mind and it translates into the cover. A very deep thinking process, lol.

How much time do you spend on social media per day?

I spend at least four to six hours off and on. What do you concentrate on? It depends on the time of day. Very early in the morning, I’m just catching up with the FB groups. The rest of the time I am blogging, twittering, sharing info on the books and learning the ropes of all the other areas.

What is you favorite part of the whole process? (Besides receiving a check or 5 star review!)

The writing is my favorite. I really get a kick out of the conversations with the characters that are running through my head, deciding the course of their lives. Being the all knowing over whether they succeed or not. The process makes me feel omniscient.

What do you do when you get writers block?

I close my eyes, I take a deep breath and try to place myself in the character’s mindset and before I know it, I’ve figured out my next step.

Do you need to decide on your genre first or write the book and then decide?
I start of with one genre in mind and almost always end up bound inside another.

Where do you get your ebooks formatted?
I format them myself. At first it was a process and now it is almost as easy as breathing.

Which is the most important social media platform and why?

I can’t give any more value than the other because I seem to have different audiences on each site. So basically it’s a draw of the straw.

What are three unique web sites or blogs that you follow on a regular basis?

Is there anything else you would like to share?
Well, maybe a little about me. I consider myself to be a caged in frustrated author and self-publisher of thought provoking, mind bending books, an occasional step-in (foster) parent, a fountain of knowledge, and ready to share. I can be found no farther than the click of your mouse. My books can be found at: Amazon-U.K. Kindle,  Smashwords , Sony or Kobo, Nook and iTunes.
Feel free to visit my webpage: Into the Deep , and my blog http://wade-inpublishing.blogspot.com Checkout the books I review, Watch Videos, and have conversations with my characters. Oh, if you like trailing behind you can follow me on twitter  @jumpouttheboat  or @ eywade and I'll probably follow you in return. To be even more social I can be found on the biggest spaces on the planet: Facebook, Google Plus,  Goodreads, and Linkedin So, that's it you don't have to look for me any further....I'm easy to find.
